RjDj weekend wrap up
Posted on | December 15, 2008 |
A bunch of music and code nerds are right now at FC Magnet bar in Berlin showing off their newly built scenes for RjDj. This weekend we have been hanging out with the entire team behind this fantastic app as well as with coders hacking together their own generative music experiments. It’s been a really cool experience seeing everybody sitting an entire weekend with headphones on tweaking filters and parameters in PureData.
This afternoon I also assisted the development team (that’s now managed by the great Andie!) completing some Python and Django stuff for their web app, much much fun. It’s really amazing how easy it is to dive into code projects nowadays and do spike sessions. Standards, version control and MVC’s ftw!
People did some really great scenes as well and I managed to get my hands on three fresh ones by Martin Brinkmann. Big thanks to all the RjDj guys and to Moviepilot for letting us use their offices.
Me & Eric managed to also throw in some hacking on The Cloud Player that we released last week. We now have a full memcache layer on top of the SoundCloud API so performance should be really, really fast. Really cool with all the blogposts and tweets as well, thanks to all of you.

OMG, me too, me too. Berlin ain’t so far away. Oh, well.
A French-speaking artist(e) asked me three days ago about PD. Me: “I’m afraid of patch-oriented development.”
(How about that video remixer vvvv.org, then? No OS X version.)
