Music Hack Day

Posted on | July 3, 2009 |

Only a week left until the Music Hack Day event in London takes place. Ever since 24 Hour Business Camp i’ve been longing for another real hack session focused on getting stuff done and it looks like MHD could be one of those. Great companies like EchoNest, Last.fm, Songkick and (of course) SoundCloud have open platforms/API’s that can be used for creating cool mashups to push the boundaries of music apps on the web. And if we’re lucky both Hypem & Spotify might give us some tools before next weekend as well.

Dave and James who are organizing this event has confirmed that there will be somewhere between 150 and 200 hackers participating during the two days (and one night!) which are large and good numbers. Except from hacking there will also be workshops from pervasive audio app RjDj and hardware specialists Tinker.it

I’m going over with a good friend mainly to help people that are interested in the SoundCloud API but if we find time we might fork and hack on a great SoundCloud Map application that Johan Uhle started on last month. I think maps & music are a good match and with the right data visualization can be cool.

So, check out the web site, read up on the API’s and get your creative engine started.

And did i mention that the whole event is free? And that there will be free food? See you in London!
