Let me present: CitySounds.fm

The last two weeks has been quite hectic since i’ve been building a new site with some friends, but more about that tomorrow. Now I want to tell you about the project that me and David created during Music Hack Day in London about two weeks ago.
Music Hack Day was an event for hackers with an interest in music apps. A bunch of companies got together and promoted their API’s to see what cool things could be created during 24 hours. Not totally unlike the hyped 24 Hour Business Camp that I attended a few months ago, but with focus on music and audio.
After helping people out with the SoundCloud API for a while both me and David got into serious code mode and during last 19 hours (actually 16 since we slept for 3) we hacked, designed, scripted and structured this little app - CitySounds.fm
CitySounds.fm is a city based music browser where we list the newest tracks from cities all around the world. The most popular cities gets shown in a quite slick interface all built with HTML, CSS & jQuery. All of the tracks comes from SoundCloud and the image for each city from flickr. Tracks and cities are updated constantly and reflects trends in music from the cities shown.
Over the last days the app has been tweeted and blogged a lot and it’s great fun to see that browsing music based on location actually makes sense not only for us. We have also decided to keep on hacking on the site to show more cities and not just the popular ones, so hang tight.
